It’s time to jig, clink, sip (and repeat) with a Moscow Mule mug gift set.

For a friend? Sure. For yourself? Definitely. It’s no fun sippin’ on a beverage from a Copper Mug Co. mug if you’re the only one. Wait, who are we kidding, yes it is. Still, reaching across the patio table for a hearty “clink” or “clunk” with a kindred spirit is even better. Share the love--give a Moscow Mule mug set from Copper Mug Co.

Whats in the set?

4 of the best Moscow Mule mugs

The highest quality mugs around, smooth or hammered finish–your choice. Each is built with the best copper and food-grade lacquer money can buy. At Copper Mug Co., we do the most so you get the best.

Because of our commitment to your happiness, you also get:

1 Double-Barrel Jigger

With the same finish to match your mugs! Having one and two-ounce sides at your disposal brings you to elite status (welcome, we’ve been waiting for you).

Drop two ounces of vodka in your Moscow Mules and then gently tap the jigger for a crisp *ding* that announces your coolness to grateful guests.

4 Reusable Copper Straws

As the environmental impact of plastic straws is well-known we’d like to draw your attention to another, albeit lesser, evil of plastic straws--they break all the time. Bendy or what-have-you, a plastic straw is bound to disappoint and require you to use another, which causes more environmental impact and also the distress of losing precious, straw-trapped drops of your favorite cocktail.

Whether you need something sturdy and stylish to stir with or prefer an equally cold sipping accessory for your drink, save yourself (and, of course, the planet) the trouble of plastic.

Custom Packaging

Are packing boxes just for kids? We don’t think so. Your gift set of four mugs comes specially packaged in a neat and tidy little box with the Copper Mug Co. emblem proudly displayed for all to see. Sure, you can frame it later.

* Plus free custom monogram engraving *

As if this gift couldn’t get any better--it just did. Pick one letter to personalize your special gift.

Smooth or Hammered?

While the manner in which you end a night of drinks with your pals is up to you, you have the same options for choosing the finish of your Copper Mug Co. mule mugs. Need help deciding? Ask and you shall receive...

Smooth finish

Clean lines, folks. This finish makes a stunning visual impact that adds a modern aesthetic to any bar set. Easy to care for and cool to the touch, you won’t regret this choice. You may want to get some copper polish, though, because the smooth finish may show copper’s natural patina more as it ages (easily polished away, if desired).

This in no way affects the quality or performance of the mug, and you may find that you enjoy the patina as your visual palate grows alongside your tasting palate.

Hammered finish

Vintage appeal? You got it. The appeal is more than vintage, though, as authorities on copper would say that the texture of a traditional hammered finish captures and insulates your drink better than a smooth finish. Temperature is dispersed more evenly and you get first sip quality on subsequent sips. Sip, sip, hooray!

The hammered finish is also less likely to show natural signs of aging than the smooth finish. Learn more about the truths and myths surrounding copper on our website.

Here are some frequently asked questions.

Are Moscow Mules better in copper mugs?

Moscow Mules are definitely better in copper mugs. Copper has been the metal of choice for mules since antiquity--for good reason. It has properties which enhance the flavor, carbonation, and temperature of Moscow Mules. Especially when compared to glass or plastic, copper encourages the subtle lime to embrace the limelight and keeps your drink chilled and bubbly longer.

Why does a Moscow Mule have to be in a copper mug?

A Moscow Mule does not have to be in a copper mug. The drink has been a hit since its introduction in the 1940’s, so sip up however you can! However, if you want the best possible Moscow Mule, go with copper.

What is so special about Moscow Mule mugs?

Moscow Mule mugs are traditionally built of copper to specifically enhance the qualities of a Moscow Mule. In the presence of alcohol, copper oxidizes and enhances the aroma of your drink (believe it or not, this improves your sense of taste!). Copper, especially hammered, is also deemed to maintain a colder temperature of your drink, which keeps flavors like lime from being overpowered on your palate.

Are copper mugs worth it?

Copper mugs are the best option for Moscow Mules. Copper helps the flavors of your drink remain distinct while also complementing each other. Also, copper can keep your drink colder and more bubbly for longer.

The Origin of the Moscow Mule

Mule Hollywood, California, 1941- John G. Martin complained to his friend and bar owner Jack Morgan. He had just purchased a then-unknown vodka distillery (a little company called Smirnoff), and lamented his inability to unload the vodka. It just wasn’t selling.

Bar owner Morgan was having a similar quandary, since being recently freed from Prohibition. He needed to sell his ginger beer. Over hours of drinks, the two came up with a strategy: combine their beverages and sell it as one cocktail.

Lucky for them, Sofie Berenzinski, a Russian woman who had traveled to America with two thousand copper mugs from her family's factory sat in the same bar.

Unknown to them, combining vodka, ginger beer and copper mug would create a truly unique and favorites drink across the nation that can be attributed to American ingenuity.

Although there are many variations to this story, the origin of the Moscow Mule is colorful and distinctly American. Three people, three different problems, one solution: the dawn of a new cocktail that would incorporate all three elements: ginger beer, vodka, and the copper mug.
